The Eco Innovation Centre (EIC) Peterborough is part of a network of Innovation Centres spread across the East of England. The EIC has been established to offer specialised support to the fast-growing Environment Goods & Services (EGS) sector both in Peterborough and across the East of England.

Specifically, it aims to:

• Provide flexible space to grow your business
• Support innovation, enterprise & entrepreneurship
• Enable networking between businesses & other innovative & technological organisations

The project to establish the Centre was formed as a partnership between EEDA, PCC, CSEng, UKCEED and was led by the urban redevelopment company, Opportunity Peterborough. Anchor Tenants include the Centre for Sustainable Engineering (CSEng), the UK Centre for Economic and Environmental Development (UKCEED) as well as Renewables East. CSEng operates the facility, providing specialist advice in the form of surgeries and connecting clients to existing support networks locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. Advice ranges from how to set up a business to sources of financing, guidance for patenting ideas, sanity-checks for commercial applications and routes to market. CSEng has extensive experience in this field.

The Eco Innovation Centre (EIC) is a high quality business incubation, meeting and networking centre for businesses and organisations operating in the environment sector.

The EIC is a innovative facility for Peterborough which aims to stimulate business growth and environmental enterprise and is one of the latest in a network of innovation centres in the East of England. The EIC is a specialist centre to support the fast-growing Environmental Industries sector. This includes organisations working in cleantech, renewable energy and energy management, pollution control, water and waste management, sustainable construction and materials, sustainable transport and logistics, environmental consultancy and other environmental services.

CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme Event for businesses -24 March

The CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme (formerly known as the Carbon Reduction Commitment) is the UK's mandatory climate change and energy saving scheme that is due to start in April 2010. The Scheme will apply to large public and private sector organisations with a total half-hourly electricity consumption exceeded 6,000 megawatt-hours (MWh) during 2008. In general, organisations spending more than £500,000 a year in the UK on electricity (via half-hourly meters) are likely to be included in the scheme.

The EIC is pleased to announced that it has increased its capacity for business space by extending into the top floor of the Centre, the space will be utilised as 1 x 7 person office, 1 x 10 persons office and a number of 2-3 persons offices. The offices will have access to their own kitchen area. More to follow shortly.
